Bold gown colors were the hot topic at the 2011 Golden Globes Awards—most specifically green, orange, and pink. With such powerful hues, many stylists chose to keep their red carpet clients’ necklines clean, focusing instead on cocktail rings, grandiose diamond stud earrings, and long, luxurious drop earrings.
Catherine Zeta Jones was a forest green goddess on the red carpet, but kept all of her jewelry accents sparkling white. Her Monique Lhuillier textured green gown was a good match for Van Cleef & Arpels’
26.8ct. diamond and platinum chandelier earrings. Also deep in green, Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss set off her satiny strapless Donna Karan frock with shoulder-grazing platinum, diamond, and pearl drop earrings and a platinum and emerald cocktail ring by Lorraine Schwartz
. 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski chose to accessorize with the popular emerald green shade, as well. Her Lorraine Schwartz
green and blue statement earrings created almost as much buzz as her baby bump. The vibrant platinum drop earrings played up her slate blue Badgley Mischka gown.
In the sherbet zone, a handful of stars took center stage, including Easy A’s Emma Stone who wowed in a peach Calvin Klein Collection cap-sleeved dress and Van Cleef & Arpels
round diamond drop earrings from the Palmyre
collection. Stone’s unique bow-shaped “Noeud” cocktail ring, also by Van Cleef & Arpels
, sparkled with yellow and white pavé diamonds set in yellow and white gold. Claire Danes, who took home a Golden Globe Award for her role in HBO’s Temple Grandin, proved that less is more in her uncluttered Calvin Klein Collection pink silk halter dress with subtle Fred Leighton
diamond solitaire drop earrings and a single vintage yellow gold cuff edged in diamonds.
Yellows also played a sunny part in this year’s awards. Kyra Sedgwick’s boho glam Emilio Pucci gown in marigold was a perfect complement to Ofira’s
oversized turquoise earrings set in a yellow gold. Stacks of gold bracelets with hints of turquoise further carried the star’s artistic style. Wearing a creamy lemon strapless gown by Badgley Mischka, British actress and presenter Helen Mirren was one of the few to accessorize with a necklace. Her cascading 55.08ct. diamond and platinum necklace by Cartier
had a vintage vibe and worked well with Mirren’s embroidered shrug.
As usual, many stars rocked the red carpet with the darkest hue on the color wheel, keeping their little black gowns sophisticated with well-placed white diamonds. One of the best examples of this was Golden Globe Award nominee Halle Berry wearing a corseted Nina Ricci dress with stacked platinum and diamond bracelets on both wrists and 3ct. round diamond stud earrings by Harry Winston
. Berry’s black and diamond combination created a dramatic entrance as did Piper Perabo’s black and bowed Oscar de la Renta gown paired with Bulgari’s
emerald-cut diamond stud earrings. Likewise, Golden Globe Awards presenter Eva Longoria accessorized a form-fitting black Zac Posen stunner with elegant Neil Lane
diamond stud earrings and a matching black clutch. Jane Fonda was one of the few stars to wear a black dress and not opt for studs. Instead, she wore long yellow gold chandelier earrings to accompany her futuristic George Hobeika gown with winged shoulder tips.
Finally, bucking the black trend, Jennifer Lopez’s pearly white Zuhair Murad gown was a blank canvas for Harry Winston’s
floral platinum and diamond cluster earrings, 7ct. diamond suspension ring, platinum and diamond hair pin, and cuff timepiece.
